Les gave a talk on designing trees which do not fit into the classical 5 styles. He illustrated his talk with a number of trees which had been brought in by members.
The first meeting of the year saw Les run through the highlights of the programme followed by an interesting talk on Chinese Elms by Peter Scammell. Several new members turned up with their trees and were given help on the design and care of their trees.
Once again we welcomed Nobu to run a weekend workshop in Pirongia. Our trees are definitely showing improvements in ramification and starting to 'tell their own story' due to Nobu's teachings. November was the AGM - a busy year. No changes on the committee and no change in the subs. This was followed by Gordon giving a talk on his experiences with a number of NZ Natives. There were plenty of Natives on the display table as well.
The meeting proved to be a fun event with plenty of tree on display along with photos of their beginnings for comparison. The famous double act of Adriaan and Poppie Engelbrecht came over from Tauranga to enthrall us with their skills.
